This drive is not for green horses. Paved roads with some traffic, hills; police to help at crossings. SMV (Slow Moving Vehicle) sign REQUIRED. Directions: Take I-77 to exit 93, go east on SR 212. As you enter the old part of town, you will see a fire station and a large parking area on the left. Pull in and park there. Behind the fire station is the Old School House where we eat. | July 15, 2012 - Howe Meadow and Indigo Lake Picnic Drive (WRCA Event) Howe Meadow Peninsula Ohio Meet @ 11:30AM at Howe Meadow. Potluck @ noon. Hitch & drive after the potluck dinner. Facilities: •Picnic tables •Electric •Restrooms •Plenty of parking Howe Meadow is located in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park at 4140 Riverview Rd , Peninsula , OH . DO NOT USE THE MAIN ENTRANCE TO HOWE MEADOW IF YOU HAVE A LONG TRAILER BECAUSE YOU WILL BOTTOM OUT ON THE RAILROAD TRACKS. PROCEED NORTH TO THE NEXT ENTRANCE, MARKED WITH WRCA SIGNS. There will be a marked course around the meadow. And a marked trail to Indigo Lake through the woods. Or just drive at will around the meadow! No road driving. Plenty of parking, restrooms etc. Drinks will be provided. The drive will be between 4.5 and 6.5 miles (your choice or routes) along the Sandusky river on country roads. Directions: From east or west, take US 224 to SR 53 just South of Tiffin. If coming from the North, take turnpike or US 20 to Fremont interchange, which is SR 53 and follow that until you have gone through Tiffin and come to US 224. Go south on SR 53 for 5.0 miles to CR 6 and go .8 miles to TR 131. This will be the second right. You will see Camp Glen signs, plus a Walnut Grove Campground sign. Travel on TR 131 for 1.5 miles. Sandusky River Coon Hunters Lodge (7575 TR 131) is the big barn on the left. |

Anyone who wants to watch the hunt can come early, observe or even follow the hunt on horseback if they want. There will be a joint potluck when the hunters return, so get here early! Then the WRCA members hitched and drove. Directions: From I-77, take the OH-212 Zoar/Bolivar exit (Exit 93). Turn EAST on OH-212 for 5.8 miles to SR-800. Turn RIGHT. Drive 4.1 miles to SR-416. Turn LEFT. Cross the creek and turn an immediate LEFT on the White Bridge Road. We will be parking in the hay field on the right, across from the river – NOT at Roemer’s main house. Watch for WRCA signs. |

Trails are 10’ wide with a fine granular surface, always dry enough to drive on (Suitable for antique vehicles). Other trails are 6’ wide groomed with a dirt surface and could be muddy if the weather is wet. (Best for marathon or stronger type vehicles). Road driving is also available with a combination of pavement and gravel surfaces. Very little traffic encountered; more Amish buggies than anything. Trails will be marked in the park as well as 5.2 miles of country road driving. Directions: See January Organizational Meeting for directions to Park. Bear RIGHT when entering the park and turn RIGHT on the first road to the Pavilion parking lot. |
